How I Got Three Job Offers Within a Week – Nigerian Graduate Shares Stunning Testimony

Read the inspirational testimony as shared on a popular Nigerian online forum:

I give thanks to Allah for giving me the strength and courage to believe in my self, to make employers perceive me as the right candidate right from CV screening to the point of interview. Nothing feels good to be a self made, devoid of any underhand influence other than your ability and God’s blessings.

This is a brief story about me. Immediately I finished NYSC, I was so determined never to sit at home doing nothing. I looked around my environment to secure a job with a cement trading company that paid me a salary of 10k. Soon, I joined Corona Schools Trust Council as a Graduate Teacher Trainee with the hope of being absorbed into their main teaching staff later on because I enjoyed teaching during NYSC.

Unfortunately, Corona Schools changed the goal post in the middle of the game. we were told that the programme is a corporate social responsibility and we wont be absorbed because there was no vacancy. Mind u, we were paid 35k + feeding monthly. Four months wasted for young, bright and brilliant graduates. After some weeks, I secured another job with an Audit Firm to learn practical accounting. Anybody who has worked with a small audit firm knows what it takes to be a man.

Truly, I loved the job but left in frustration after 13 months on a salary scale of between 20-28k per month from Idimu – Maryland, Lagos. If no one praises me, I praise myself. The merry go round continues, got another job with a company that pays 50k. i enjoyed a little relief after NYSC. Spent 3 months and got offer with a capital market operator, my brother, the job no be beans, wake up 4am and return home around 10pm everyday coupled with transportation gulping more than 30% of my net pay.

That really fueled my desire to move again. I started applying voraciously to many job vacancies, related and unrelated skill sets. And finally, the 3 offers landed with a keen decision to be made.

Please be mindful that as a young person, I never set out to be jumping around jobs because of money. but when you find yourself in a let down situation, fight it. Set standard for yourself and go for it. Every employer wants the best and to continue to make more profit which is normal. however, no employer will pity you when it decides to sack you because you u are deemed to work below expectation.

Also note that for every place where I worked, my integrity and appetite for success always remain intact. It hurts me when I resign my appointments and observe that my employers still want me but hey, I can only hustle while I am still young.

Let us be sincere, how can I cope with 28k per month in Lagos, considering the distance for a guy who is around 30? When will I rent an apartment? When will I marry?

My pains and struggles ended recently after three top companies in Nigeria offered me executive jobs with mouth-watering salaries that have shocked even those ahead of me in life. I have picked the best and I will be resuming next week Monday like a boss.

Ingredients for Success:

  • Set your standard
  • Believe in your ability
  • Be persistent
  • Never get discouraged
  • Be courageous
  • Sometimes controversial
  • Elements of greed
  • Never be docile
  • Be a risk taker
  • You can also add other qualities

Thank you. may Allah bless our hustles.

I'm in Love with Pete Edochie, He is My Dream Husband and I Must Marry Him – Actress Blessing Brown

Blessing and Edochie

Liberian-born Nollywood actress, Blessing Brown, has revealed that she is so much in love with legendary actor, Pete Edochie, as she described him as her dream husband.

Blessing who has featured in over 10 Nigerian movies after she relocated to Nigeria 6 months ago, admitted that she has been longing to meet the veteran actor, adding that she has always admired him since she was a child, and appreciated everything about him both the way he talks, walks, and acts.

While speaking in an exclusive interview with The Sun, Blessing stated that although Pete Edochie he is married, but she does not mind getting married to him and no one can take his place in her heart not even his son, Yul Edochie.

The budding actress who revealed that in Liberia, Nigerian actors and actresses are held in high esteem and are seen as gods, said;

“Since I was a child, I have been crushing on him. I still look forward to seeing myself in the arms of Pete Edochie. I don’t mind the fact that he is married; he is my dream husband.

“I like the way he talks, walks and acts. Nobody else can substitute him in my life right now. Not even his younger version, Yul Edochie; he doesn’t entice me. All I want is Pete and not his sons or look alike!

“I love him regardless of his age. Older men make good husbands. Age is just a number. If I love a 70-year old man, I don’t see why I shouldn’t marry him.

“I don’t have time for small boys still running around and wearing studs in their ears with lots of chains hanging around their necks.”

She also added that aside being old, her lover must be wealthy as well.

“Any man that wants to date or marry me must be tall. I can’t date a short man because I will always be looking at him like he is my child. I want someone that I would look up to. He has to be rich and caring too. Handsomeness is an added advantage.”

On the reasons she came to Nigeria to pursue her acting career, Ms Brown said that back in her country, Nigerian actors were seen as gods and everyone looked forward to acting alongside them.

“In Liberia we see Nigerian actors as gods. That is why the likes of Frank Artus, Juliet Ibrahim, and Van Vicker among a host of others moved over to Nigeria.

“Now I am here and I look forward to taking over from Yvonne Nelson and Ini Edo among others”, she stated.

Here Are 8 Foods You Should Never Ever Freeze

*Photo used for illustrative purpose*

1. Water-Rich Vegetables

These include crunchy celery, lettuce, cucumbers, radishes, and watercress. The fact that they are water-rich means they freeze easily, but freezing ruptures the cell walls that give them their structure, so when they are defrosted they go limp and mushy. (They also develop an unpleasant oxidized aroma, flavor, and color.) However, pickled and fermented veggies will freeze just fine, since their cell walls have already been broken down. Fresh tomatoes can be frozen if you plan to cook them after defrosting, but if you want to eat them raw, don’t freeze—they’ll have a mushy, runny texture.

2. Whole Eggs

Eggs in the shell bust open when frozen, admitting dangerous bacteria. (If you really want to freeze eggs, take them out of their shells, first.

3. Coffee

You can store unopened, freshly roasted bags of coffee in the freezer for up to a month, but after you’ve opened the bag, don’t freeze it again. Thawing and refreezing coffee beans leads to moisture condensation on the beans, causing them absorb unpleasant freezer smells.

4. Soft Dairy Products

Sour cream, cottage cheese, and whipping cream separate and become watery after freezing.

5. Potatoes

Potatoes will discolor and lose texture if you freeze them raw; cooked potatoes turn waterlogged and mealy. Bottom line: Don’t freeze your spuds.

6. Emulsions

Freezing causes mayonnaise and salad dressings to separate and turn watery. (This also goes for recipes containing mayonnaise, such as dips or mayo-based salads.)

7. Block Cheeses

Freezing tends to make cheese very crumbly so that it doesn’t slice or shred well after. (To avoid this, you can shred your cheese before freezing it.)

8. Meringues + Cooked Frosting

Freezing turns airy meringues tough and rubbery; and makes cooked frostings soften and weep. Finish those desserts now instead of putting them on ice for later.

Presidency Reacts to Planned Nationwide Protest on February 5th (Watch Video)

Femi Adesina, the Senior Special Assistant to President Muhamamdu Buhari on Radio

Femi Adesina, the Senior Special Assistant to President Muhamamdu Buhari, has said those planning to protest on the February 5th alongside singer, 2face Idibia and other celebrities are those who supported the last administration. He made the statement during an interview  with Lagos Talk 91.3fm.

“This is a country of about 180 million people. It is impossible for 180 million people to think the same way. Yoruba has a saying that is you all sleep and put your head in the same direction, then you are all foolish because you would be breathing in one another’s mouth and lungs. Dont forget the last election and how it went. Somebody scored 12.5 million votes, another scored about 15 million votes.

“There are some people who are still in that election mode. They have not gotten out of it and till today, they are still living and ‘rheumatisizing’ about the past. What they don’t know is that that past is gone and gone forever. Majority of those calling for the protest are still in election mode. Majority of them are people that have resolved not to see anything good in this administration simply because the man they wanted lost at the polls” he said

For the first time since 2008, the Chelsea FC squad will not have Branislav Ivanovic in it as their hopes of winning the Premier League title will be tested on Tuesday night when the Blues take on Liverpool at Anfield.

The 32-year-old defender who has been rumoured to leave the club for some time, is on his way out of Stamford Bridge.

European clubs, Zenit St Petersburg and West Brom were chasing his signature, while rumours spread that Ivanovic preferred staying in the Premier League than moving back to Russia.

Regardless of whether that’s true, on Tuesday afternoon, Ivanovic was pictured in Russia having landed ahead of his move to Zenit.

While it’s far to say that Ivanovic is no longer the player he was, he’ll go down in the Chelsea annals as a legend.

Wow! This 16-year-old Boy is the Second Tallest Basketball Player in the World… Taller Than Anyone in the NBA

Robert Bobroczky (extreme left) is stands above everyone else

Robert Bobroczky is a 7-foot-7, 16-year-old freshman at SPIRE Institute, a state-of-the-art international academy in Geneva, Ohio, who is set to become the tallest player to ever play in the NBA and of the tallest in the history of the sport.

Bobroczky, a native of Romania, has been described as “so tall he doesn’t look real”.

At age 12, he was already 7 feet tall, and although his growth rate has slowed down over the last four years, he is still on track to become the eighteenth person in medical history to reach or surpass eight feet in height. Unfortunately, his weight has been having trouble keeping up with his growth, and at 7-foot-7, he weighs only 190 pounds. Robert is honing is skills on the basketball court, but if he is to reach the NBA, the first priority is bulking up.

The world first heard about Robert Bobroczky a couple of years ago, when a video of him towering over other teenagers on the basketball court went viral on Facebook, with over 3 million views. He was 7-foot-3 at the time, basically a giant for his age. That’s when Bobby Bossman, Executive Director of SPIRE Institute became interested in the young man.

“Oddly enough, it all started on Facebook,” he told Maxpreps. “We reached out to him a year ago and got to know him and his family. They trusted us and came over to America to visit and here we are. He’s been at our school for three months now and lives on campus.”

Robert’s father, Zsiga, was also a professional basketball player who played on Romania’s national team, alongside 7-foot-7 Gheorghe Muresan, one of the two tallest players to have ever played in the NBA. His father is “just” 7-foot-1 tall, though. He and his wife agreed to move to America to help Robert reach his full potential as a basketball player.

Still a freshman, Robert Bobroczky recently made his high school basketball debut on Jan. 12, in an 87-51 loss to First Love Christian Academy of Washington, Pa., but only played for a few minutes.

His coaches just want him to get accustomed to the type of basketball played in the U.S. for now, but hope to use him on the court full time starting next year. “I told him:

“We want you to be comfortable, we want you to have fun and everything else will take care of itself’,” Bossman said.

“Robert has a great mid-range shot for his size and can also step out and hit 3-pointers,” the SPIRE Executive Director added. “He has great hands, passing ability and a soft touch around the rim. He has the body, intelligence and skill set to be a pro one day. He’s not even close to reaching his potential. But the thing that separates Robert from others is his strong work ethic. The kid just wants it.”

One of his biggest challenges, however, is moving up and down the court at a good pace, which isn’t exactly easy for a boy with such a long frame. “We do weight training to harden his core and he’s also in the pool three times a week with our trainers strengthening muscle groups,” Bobby Bossman told Maxpreps. “He eats three meals a day along with protein and meal replacement shakes. The main thing is ensuring we give him enough calories in his diet, and we’re in the adaptive stage to see how his body responds.”

At just 16 years old, Robert Bobroczky would be the tallest basketball player in the NBA right now, and is in fact the second tallest basketball player in the world, behind 29-year-old Paul Sturgess, a 7-foot-8 professional player from England.

Just In: Federal Road Safety (FRSC) Seeks Nationwide Ban on Commercial Motorcycles…See Details

Okada riders

The Federal Road Safety Corps has recommended a nationwide ban on commercial motorcycles popularly known as ‘Okada’ to reduce road accidents.

The recommendation forms part of the October Road Traffic Crash Report 2016, submitted by the Corps Marshal, Mr. Boboye Oyeyemi, to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

The report quotes Oyeyemi as saying that commercial motorcyclist remained a major cause of fatal road traffic accidents across the country, hence the need for state governments to consider banning them from operating.

The RTC statistics for October 2016 shows that 230 cases or 18 per cent of a total of 1,259 vehicles involved in accidents within the month were commercial motorcycles.

According to the report, motorcycle accidents ranked third after cars which accounted for 457 cases or 36 per cent, followed by minibuses with 243 or 19 per cent of the total.

Oyeyemi said, “Following the outcome of the analysis, it could be concluded that motorcycle still constitutes serious menace on the nation’s highways.

“Accordingly, improved results could be achieved in the future, if more state governments could consider placing a ban on the use of motorcycle for commercial purposes.

“In view of the above, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation should facilitate and encourage state governments to ban the use of motorcycle for commercial purposes.’’

Commercial motorcycle is currently banned from major routes in some cities and towns including Abuja and state capitals across the country.

Besides their contributions to road accidents, they have also been linked to the operations of armed robbers, kidnappers and other criminals in several parts of the country.

In 2014, the National Council on Transport recommended their ban nationwide “to ensure adequate provision of safe and secure means of transportation in the country’’.

Reports say Anambra and Lagos states had for over two years banned the use of commercial motorcycle on highways in their territories.

Reps to Increase Fuel Price by N5 for Roads Development

Nigerians may pay additional N5 on petroleum price if the current National Roads Fund bill before the House of Representatives is passed into law, according to the DailyTrust.

The N5 increase is part of recommendations of a technical committee set up by the House Committee on Works, chaired by Rep Toby Okechukwu (PDP, Enugu).

The technical committee, chaired by Chris Okoye, was in November given the task of drawing a report to be reviewed and considered by the House.

The National Road Fund, when established, is to serve as a repository of revenues from road user-related charges and other sources for financing to be managed and administered for routine and periodic maintenance works on Nigerian roads.

Thus, as part of the sources for the fund, the committee recommended that “fuel levy of N5 chargeable per litre on any volume of petrol and diesel products imported into Nigeria and on locally refined petroleum products.”

Other sources the committee recommended include, toll fees not exceeding 10 percent of any revenue paid as user charge per vehicle on any federal road designated as a toll road; international vehicle transit charges; inter-state mass transit user charge of 0.5 percent deductible from the fare paid by passengers as well as surcharge of 0.5 percent chargeable on the assessed value of any imported vehicle into the country.

The other sources of funding as recommended by the committee are lease, license or other fees which should be 10 percent of the revenue accruing from such or other fees pertaining to non-vehicular road usages along any federal road; grants and loans and gifts of land, money or other property.

The fund is to be managed by a governing board with a managing director as the head of the fund.

However, the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) opposed the recommendation on the N5 fuel levy. The institute, which was part of the technical committee, submitted a minority report to the House works committee.

Upcoming Actress Lands in Hospital After She was Brutalised by a Soldier on Her on Her Way to Onitsha (Photos)

The lady who was brutalized by the army

Below is how Jewel Infinity shared her story on social media;

*********************************************

A CRY OF HELP!

Please my good people of our nation, i am sincerely calling out for justice against violence. I am hospitalized right now as i type this with the lil stamina in me; i am in serious pain and agony; in between life and death. This is my story:

This morning, at about 11.50am, i boarded a siena vehicle leaving PortHarcourt for Onitsha. As we approached the first checkpoint immediately after the airport, we pulled over as the soldiers ordered us to, for the usual scrutinization.

One of them, the youngest of them, by name, SULAIMAN OLAMILEKAN, began to molest me. He accused me of discussing him, where i was only having a friendly debate with the lady beside me about whether his car is tinted or not because of the way the we where being delayed because the driver didn’t bring the back glass down when he stopped us immediately he was like ‘hey you wetin you just talk now’ I explained to him that he was never in the picture of the gist but he ignored me and demanded i disembark from the vehicle, kneel down and apologise to him.

I called his bluff and explained to him that i did nothing wrong to apologise. To my greatest dismay, this dude went in search of any object at his disposal (a huge stick), and started hitting it all over my body. He shove me out of the vehicle and when he piecesed the stick on me he went in search of another thing and he came back with a big rod immediately I saw him coming with that one and I noticed everyone was already scared to come closer also his colleagues were just there busy with the stopping of other vehicles I ran out of the vehicle and jumped down wanted to run over to the other lane to where their ogas used to stay but on a second thought I sensed he might throw the big rod on me I then stood still not believing he could actually used that on me b4 I knew it he started hitting my two leg with it.

I was helpless as my fellow passengers were scared to intervene, the others (soldiers) disengaged him from hitting me further but they did not reprimand/reprove him. Instead, they confiscated my phone and prevented me from taking pictures of any of them my phone’s screen is in pieces now. When i told them that i would nolonger proceed with the journey, they restrained me from going back to Portharcourt by compelling the driver to embark on our journey to (Onitsha) with me.

The driver drove off to some distance away from there, and i alighted from the vehicle and boarded another one heading back to Portharcourt. The passengers in the bus were astonished at the injuries i sustained from the brutality. They sympathized with me and advised me to take the matter up. Even the new driver confirmed Ola to be a ruthless soldier as he has had an encounter like that with him before.

As soon as we arrived Portharcour, i went straight to the Army Barracks to file a report about him. I narrated the whole story to them. The soldiers and the superiors there, were astonished at the cruel act and were sympathizing with me and pleaded that i shouldn’t take the case any further; that the Ola dude would be remanded for one month in the barracks there (which i feel is not enough justice)they said he just joined then in the yr 2015

I was quickly attended to and was taken to their clinic for treatment. They summoned for Ola, the dude was very shocked that the case had gotten here already. To God be the glory, he confessed correctly that i didn’t do anything to have warranted his cruel action that he was in a very bad mood He said what happened there was inexplicable. This time, he genuflected and implored for compassion. He took my number when I was giving it to the nurse for my admission at the hospital an whatsapped me to forgive him and not take things seriously. (This was how i tracked his identity on True caller.)

Right now i am bedridden. The doctor said i am running temperature due to my high blood pressure. I am in serious pain and rendered partially immoveable. How do i explain this uncomely incidence to my family in Onitsha whom i was supposed to meet with? Here are the pictures of what happened in the scene including the picture of the violator and the rod he used You can access him with his facebook addy, “Sulaiman Olamilekan”.

Please Help! Help me reach out to anybody in authority, who can fight this violence. Violence is indeed a cankerworm that has eaten us deep into every fabric of the Nigerian Army Force. Soldiers fight and protect their own, not to destroy the innocent civilians’
