Revealed! How Okiro's Police Service Commission Stops the Career Progress of Junior Police Officers

Mike Okiro, former Inspector General of Police

A report by SaharaReporters has shown that the Police Service Commission (PSC), actively works against the interests of well-educated members of the inspectorate cadre as well as the rank and file of the Nigeria Police Force.

The website exclusively reports that policemen in these categories are routinely ignored by the PSC, despite having obtained higher education, when vacancies exist in the Assistant Superintendent of Police cadre.

The Nigeria Police Force has three entry levels. One is by enlistment into the constable cadre, while another is via enlistment through the cadet inspector cadre. The last is via the Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) cadre.

A source told SaharaReporters that the Force has never found it difficult attracting recruits through the constable cadres because of the entry educational requirements are low. For the ASP cadre, however, higher qualifications, including degrees and diplomas are required, a situation that compelled many in the inspectorate cadre as well as rank and file to obtain diplomas from polytechnics as well as first and second university degrees.

Their hopes of absorption into the higher cadre is based on Section 39 of Part IV (Appointments) of the Police Act and Regulation.

“When vacancies in the establishment of Assistant Superintendents of Police cannot, by reason of unavailability of suitable candidates, be filled by promotions from within the Force, the Inspector-General shall so inform the Nigeria Police Council and may request it to arrange for the posts to be filled by direct entry,” the section states.

Police sources told SaharaReporters that in the past, when not many within the inspectorate and rank and file cadres had higher education, the PSC justifiably recruited civilians with tertiary educational qualifications into the ASP cadre.

That, however, is no longer the case and implies that the PSC is deliberately disregarding the provisions “unavailability” and “suitability” as conditions for filling the ASP cadre by direct entry.

“These days, members of the police rank and file are well educated, with some having second university degrees. They obtained these degrees in the hope that they would enjoy career progression, which seemed a distinct possibility under two former Inspectors-General of Police. In 2014 and 2015, they were told to participate in a documentation exercise, which they presumed would give their careers the envisaged push, having obtained higher education. That, however, was discontinued in 2016,” a source told SaharaReporters.

As at 2014, said another source, the police rank and file population, which took part in the documentation exercise, stood at 13,386. Because the force could not promote all those eligible at once, it imposed other criteria for qualification. Last year, the process was discontinued, explained the source, because other extraneous factors came into play.

Notable among these, he disclosed, was the hijack of the process by politicians in their bid to ensure that their candidates benefited.

The source said Mr. Mike Okiro, Chairman of the PSC, is running an entity that willfully disregards its own rules by its failure upgrade qualified members of the police rank and file. Mr. Okiro is said to be aware that the ill-treatment of the rank and file has resulted in low morale, especially among those with first, second and even third degrees in various academic disciplines. Many of those in this category are demoralized because they do not earn what is commensurate with their educational qualifications.

“We want the current Inspector-General of Police to, who has shown interest in the welfare of the rank and file, to re-present this issue before the PSC Chairman, so that the yearly enlistment, especially into the ASP cadre, will include batches of in-service graduates.

“Once this is done, a large number of those with tertiary educational qualification within the inspectorate cadre and the rank and file will be absorbed,” reasoned a source.

A major benefit of this approach, he added, is that in-service graduates, who have already undergone basic training, will be cheaper to provide with advanced training than those plucked from the civilian populace.

“The current rank and file have done nothing to deserve this life of servitude. If this trend is allowed to continue, there will be greater dejection and indiscipline. We are already being laughed at by our colleagues with lower qualifications. They are asking what difference exists between them and us. This is demoralizing,” said a policemen ruefully.

Solar Eclipse to Occur in Nigeria in February… read more details

File Photo

The National Space Research and Development Agency has said that there would be a partial Solar eclipse across the country on Feb. 26.

The Head of Media and Corporate Communications, Dr Felix Ale, in a statement on Thursday said, “A partial solar eclipse will be visible all over the country with different degree of totality to occur on Sunday, February 26.”

According to Ale, the highest degree of obscurity of 33 percent will be observed in the country during the natural occurrence in the southern part of Nigeria, particularly Port Harcourt, Uyo and Calabar.

He said that the lowest degree of obscurity would be about nine percent in the northern part of Nigeria, particularly in Kebbi.

Ale noted that in the South-West, the level of obscurity would be 23 per cent at about 5.42 p.m. and 6.30 p.m. He, however, said it would be recording 28 to 30 per cent between 4.45 p.m. and 6.33 p.m. in the South-East.

“Meanwhile, the level of obscurity in Abuja, the Federal Capital City (FCT) will be 20 per cent between 4.54 p.m. and 6.30 p.m.,” he said.

He stressed that the solar eclipse would be observed across the nation, thereby making each part of the country a great site for viewing the eclipse at different degree of obscurity.

According to him, the solar disc will be covered by the moon as seen from the earth and the eclipse will be visible as much as there is clear sky without rain or cloud.

He, however, said there was no cause for alarm or reason to panic as the solar eclipse was a natural occurrence and should be seen as part of the beauties of nature.

Bewarned! Engaging in These Type of S*x Sessions Can Land You in the Hospital

*Photo used for illustrative purpose*

According to an article posted by The Jamaica Observer, engaging in some type of vigorous session of lovemaking can actually result in sex-related injuries, or even death. So you and your partner should be on guard should anything go wrong and present to the nearest emergency department as soon as possible.

Consultant Emergency Medicine Physician Dr Romayne Edwards explains some of the sex-related emergency department presentations.

1. Vaginismus

Vaginismus refers to painful involuntary spasm of the vaginal muscles which as you can imagine makes the chances of sexual intercourse highly unlikely. Note that it’s not only sex that can initiate vaginismus; something as simple as inserting a tampon during menstruation or a speculum for a pap smear can incite spasm of the vaginal muscle. Vaginismus can also be situational where it only occurs sometimes and with some people.

2. Long distance stulla concoction?

Some persons, before they engage in sexual activity, may want to take a Viagra tablet to increase their stamina. They may also want to combine other things such as energy drinks or alcohol with the intention of prolonging the erection. But this can actually have deleterious effects on one’s health. The practice of mixing different beverages with other substances into a potent cocktail is not recommended as this is associated with multiple side-effects which can land you in a hospital bed before the night is through.

3. Fractured penis

For such a small population as Jamaica, the number of fractured penises is on the rise and as such men should be more careful when in bed. In the heat of the moment a man may miss and hit his penis against his partner’s thigh or pelvis. While still erect he will hear an audible pop and soon after will notice that his penis becomes swollen. Men are notorious for their poor health seeking behaviour; however, this is sufficient cause for any man to see the doctor right away. Whether the method of repair is delayed or immediate, mentally the man will never be the same again.

4. Retained foreign body

You and your partner may feel a bit kinky and want to experiment a bit, be it with fresh fruits or a sex toy. But just be careful where you put them! Retained foreign bodies are a real possibility and it can become especially concerning if it is not picked up right away. A retained foreign body in the vagina, for instance, if not retrieved can act as a nidus for infection!

5. Lacerations

Some persons like it rough but how rough is too rough? Vaginal lacerations can end a night of intimacy prematurely. Vaginal lacerations are especially seen in first timers (virgins) or in women who have sex with over-excited men with large penises. A vaginal laceration may need repair by a gynaecologist as a laceration is an open wound which can act as a gateway for the transmission of infectious diseases. To prevent this, Dr Edwards advises the use of condoms when one engages in any sexual activity. Of note, vaginal lacerations may bleed continuously with the person presenting to the emergency department due to shock.

Buhari Is Not Coming Back

President Muhammadu Buhari

There is a saying in Yoruba Land: “Orun a re mabo.”

Translation: “No one comes back from the dead.”

Buhari may not be dead, but he might as well be – too sick to rule, too greedy to leave.

Do I wish Buhari dead? Hell no! I wish him well. But as the president of Nigeria, he needs to either serve in his full capacity as president, or immediately resign. There is no third option here, at least not one that benefits Nigerians.

For weeks, Buhari’s administration has been reporting that he is healthy, that he is simply on an extended trip to London for medical tests. He has been away for weeks, and his administration is unwilling or unable to tell Nigerians if or when their president will return, according to the LA Times.

So, what we know for sure is even if Buhari is not sick – which is improbable, considering his appearance of late – and he is just more comfortable spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on his current medical tour instead of getting these “medical tests” done at the State House Clinic Abuja, the fact remains he so  preoccupied with his health that he is unable to lead his country. And Nigeria does not seem to have another leader poised to take his place.

I agree with Okey Ndibe that Buhari should step down.

Unlike most of Buhari’s detractors, I do not have a self-serving agenda. My agenda is to see Nigerians prosper in Nigeria. But Nigerians remain in chains, enslaved by their inability to see beyond their greedy noses.

I speculate Buhari is suffering from either a kidney failure or pancreatic cancer, but even if Buhari comes back home, we all know his policies of the last two years have left the country almost completely stagnate. Try as we might to put our faith in him, Buhari has brought Nigeria no closer to self-sufficiency.

If you remember, I campaigned for Buhari. I wanted him to help halt the abyss to which Nigeria was descending during the time of Jonathan’s presidency, as referenced in my article Nigeria’s Rise to the Bottom.

In another one of my articles, I stated that Nigeria is Not a Country but a conspiracy of the elites. My sincere hope was that Buhari would mark the start of a new paradigm of leadership for Nigeria.

That has not been the case.

I am not naive in thinking any world leader would panic his or her constituents by announcing a major illness then admitting there is no cure for the illness, nor a plan in place to ensure the stability of the country going forward. World leaders don’t do that. Hell, C-level executives don’t even do that.

I think what we all feel is the sense of unease that manifests when you know something’s wrong and no one will tell you what it is. It’s the same unease Americans felt when William Henry Harrison died in office. It’s the same unease experienced by Ethiopians when Prime Minister Meles Zenawi died in office. It’s the same unease the whole world felt when North Korean dictator Kim Jong Il died and we realized we were stuck with his sons.

The saga of Yar’adua comes to mind. Not quite seven years ago, we had another Nigerian President lying comatose in another country. The cabals lied to the nation for several months until they could no longer lie.

This may be history repeating itself.

By the time this post goes live, Buhari may be dead or Buhari may be back in Nigeria. But I question whether he will ever regain enough strength to lead in the proper capacity as president. How can he have a broken body and a distracted mind and retain the strength and focus to lead Nigeria out of social, political, and economic turmoil?

I am hedging my bets. The cabals know the answer. The conspirators know the answer. But they will continue to lie and  keep Nigerians guessing so they can milk the system for as long as possible.

Therefore, I say to all Nigerians, let us pray the Lord see fit to restore President Buhari’s health, and that he has the opportunity to enjoy the rest of his years in peace with his family beside him.

And let us pray that Nigerians would wake up, and rise up. Long live Nigeria.

Revealed: Why Bald Men are Great in Bed and Ooze Sexiness – Study Affirms

File photo

Ask any balding man, and he’s ready to pay any amount to have his receding hair back!

Many balding men probably think that the shiny pate makes them less sexy. But scientists are assuring that, contrary to popular opinion, bald men are sexier than men with headful of hair!

A recent scientific study found that men with bald heads are perceived to be more masculine, dominant and stronger.

So, if you are bald, don’t worry; embrace it by shaving your hair off and whatever you do, according to the study, do not try hiding your baldness.

Females will in general perceive men with a shaved head as more confident, the researchers assure.

And though an exact explanation as to why, on average, women find men with shaved heads sexier hasn’t been found yet, various theories exists.

One theory states that women looking at a man’s face usually notice the hair first; however, in the absence of hair, women look at the eyes instead and we know that first impressions count the most.

Therefore, men with no hair whatsoever direct a lady’s attention to their eyes instead and if they are able to maintain eye-contact they can create rapport more easily.

In addition to these theories, men with bald hair have been found to be sexy for these additional reasons…

• They are consistent: A bald man can just wash and go — unlike the hairier men, who can look deceptively different in the morning, depending at what angle he’s slept. One thing is for certain with a baldie, they guy you went to bed with is the guy you’re going to wake up with.

• They are always on trend: Unlike wigs, crafty comb-overs and hair implants. The bald head isn’t going anywhere, unlike the feeble hair fashion that changes every time!

• They accept their fate — Such as going bald at 24. Ouch.

• They ooze manliness: Just look at the photos here! Bald men can ooze manliness and sex appeal, even when they are follically challenged!

• They have great teeth: Well, maybe not all bald men have great teeth, but because they are hair-free, you are more likely to notice their other assets. Deep brown eyes, long eyelashes, killer smile.

• They don’t hog the bathroom: Unlike their vain hairy counterparts, baldies don’t stay put in the bathroom when preparing for outing.

• They don’t clog the showers with fallen hair: What’s grosser than a plug hole full of hair? Something you don’t have to worry about with a baldie – unless you’re dealing with pubic hair on the pillow!

Stop the Torture Now! Outrage Against Female Circumcision Spreading Fast Through Nigeria

Illustrative photo

The robust advocacy against the practice of female genital mutilation/cutting (FGM/C) by governments and non-governmental organisations (NGO) is fast spreading across the South West Zone. Ekiti and Oyo states joined in the campaign last week against the menace that is still being perpetrated in many parts of Africa.

Cultural, religious and environmental factors which include superstitious beliefs, norms and efforts geared towards preventing unchecked sexual activities by the female folk among others have been found to be responsible for the continued practice of FGM/C by many educated and uneducated, rural and urban people of this part of the world.

According to the National Demographic Health Survey (NDHS) findings in 2013, people still consider the FGM/C important for socialization of women, curbing their sexual appetites and preparing them for marriage.

Dr. Bassey Imona said findings by the NDHS further showed that in some parts of rural Nigeria and Africa, FGM/C is “considered part of a ritual initiation into womanhood which includes a period of seclusion and education about the rights and duties of a wife.”

However, despite its cultural importance, FGM/C has drawn considerable criticism because of the potential for both short and long-term medical complications, as well as harm to reproductive health and infringement on women’s rights.

A recent finding by UNICEF revealed: “Women whose clitoris have been severed would have very slow pace of sexual arousal and hardly get satisfaction during sexual activity such that such women take to sleeping with as many men as possible in search of more sexual satisfaction.”

Chairman, Committee on Women Affairs, Social Development and Gender Equity, Ekiti State House of Assembly, Mrs. Titilayo Owolabi Akerele added: “Where the girls are inexperienced or do not use proper contraceptives with the men they sleep with, they have unwanted pregnancies at such tender ages of 14, 15 and 17.” She said government was making efforts to enforce laws protecting women’s rights and sensitize women about their rights and against the practice of FGM/C.

Sadly, in Ekiti FGM/C is still widely practiced. Many mothers still take their female children to quack doctors, half-educated nurses and traditional birth attendants for FGM/C. They get away from the law by making such consultations secretive.

A mother who craved anonymity confessed to Daily Sun: “To do FGM/C for your baby, you don’t go to public hospitals because the government officers can pick you up from there and clamp you into prison. We know that our forefathers do this thing for girls so as to check their sexual excesses. That is why we secretly go to traditional birth attendants who get their clients through people they trust and people they know would keep the venture secretive.”

It was to further press against the practice of FGM/C the Onelife Initiative in conjunction with the New Generation Girls and Women Development Initiative (NIGAWD) in Ado Ekiti, organized a sensitization campaign in form of contest for the girl child in all the secondary schools in the state. Sixty-one schools participated in the “End Female Genital Mutilation Art Competition.” The competition centered on drawing depicting harmful effects of FGM/C.

Founder of NIGAWD, Abimbola Aladejare, regretted low level of awareness about the genital mutilation among schoolgirls in the state, describing it as a dangerous trend. She expressed optimism that with strong political will, the frightening incidents of teenage pregnancy and prostitution in Ekiti would be tackled:

“This is to break the culture of silent on FGM and to get people talking. Ekiti State has a high rate of teenage pregnancy. So, we decided to target mothers and future parents. We have reached 70,000 girls in Ekiti State.”

The immediate past chairperson of the Federation of International Women Lawyer, Mrs. Rita Ilevbare, advised parents to shun the practice: “Under the law, if you provide or subject yourself to female genital mutilation and you are convicted, you will get two-year jail term or pay N10,000 fine.”

…Campaigners tackle evil of female genital mutilation

She had been living a normal life without circumcision until she became pregnant for the second time and was due for delivery. While she struggled on her due date, community leaders, in South-East, insisted it would be a taboo for their daughter to give birth uncircumcised. But health care officers refused to let that be.

The melee that ensued delayed medical attention to the poor woman. She died in the process. Emmanuel, her five-year-old son then became an orphan as he had lost his father two years ago.

Anti-FGM campaigner, Gift Abu, in whose arms the woman died, recounted that the woman’s late husband had been the one shielding his wife from the razor of the circumcisers who had their chance after he died:

“Emmanuel’s father was protecting his wife from being cut but after he died, the cutters found their chance. They tried to force her to undergo FGM during labour and told me that I was to blame for her death because I told them not to cut her.”

Gift added that since demise of the woman, the community abandoned Emmanuel, having declared him an outcast for being born by an “unclean, uncircumcised” woman. She took Emmanuel and found him a safe home with family friend, Grace, alongside two other girls, Chinwe, seven, and Faith, nine, who had also been rescued from undergoing the FGM procedure.

Gift said, Chinwe and Faith’s mothers refused to have them cut but feared that if the girls stayed with them, they would be snatched and forced to undergo the procedure. This and many other stories show the plight of women and girls in Nigeria who have suffered the ordeal of undergoing the age-long cultural practice of female circumcision.

At a summit recently in Mapo Hall in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, where circumcision practitioners gathered and promised to stop the age-long practice after former President Goodluck Jonathan signed into law, a bill criminalize female circumcision in the country, Gift said some communities in South East force grown up women to undergo female circumcision when they come home for Christmas.

According to her, when this women return to their hometown no matter the number of years they had left home, they will be subjected to pressure to have their clitoris cut. Proponents of circumcision hold that an uncircumcised woman is liable to promiscuity.

Gift who joined her husband, Augustine Abu, in the fight against FGM said, about 80 percent of the girls in these communities are circumcised.  She added that whether you are married, or hold an enviable position in the society, as long you are not cut due to your being away from the communities for years and you come during Christmas, you must be cut:

“You don’t have a choice; you must be cut or you are seen like an outcast in the community and your voice will not be heard.”

According to PubMed of the National Library of Medicine: “Nigeria has the highest absolute number of cases of FGM in the world, accounting for about one-quarter of the estimated 115–130 million circumcised women worldwide.

“In Nigeria, FGM has the highest prevalence in the south-south (77%) (among adult women), followed by the south east (68%) and south west (65%), but practiced on a smaller scale in the north, paradoxically tending to in a more extreme form.”

Dr. Comfort Momoh who runs London’s African Well Women’s Clinic at St Thomas’ Hospital, renders support for women who have gone through FGM. She said she treats over 350 women suffering from FGM complications each year despite FGM being illegal since 1985. She added that not fewer than 30,000 young girls are under the risk of the “barbaric” procedure currently in the UK.

According to her, when they come to the clinic, they are so frustrated and upset at what had befallen them: “As a medical practitioner with over 25 years experience, I am aware that a lot of consequences can arise by four types of genital mutilations.

“The first type is clitoridectomy, when the clitoris which is the top part of the private part has been removed completely or halve. Second type is sunna when the clitoris and inner lip is removed which is also known as Labia minora. Third type is infibulation when the clitoris, inner lip and the big lip, labia majora are removed.

“In this situation, the edges are stitched together leaving a tiny opening for the passage of menstrual flow as well as urine. While the fourth type is unclassified forms of FGM which may involve pricking, stretching, cauterization, or inserting herbs into the vagina.

“Women with genital mutilation are exposed to recurrent urinary tract infection, Virginia infections and this can prevent the affected women from getting pregnant because these lead to infertility.”

She said other complications include pain during sexual intercourse and during menstrual period, noting that due to use of same scissors or blade, women who have undergone FGM can stand risk of contracting HIV disease: “If the patient has type 3 mutilation, she has to be cut them open again if not, there is no way she can have normal penetration during sexual intercourse.

At the summit in Ibadan, circumcisers agreed to stop the practice, which has been condemned as a violation of the rights of the girl child. Circumcision practitioners present at the event were from Oyo, Osun, Ekiti, Ondo, Ogun and Kwara states. They pledged to discontinue with female circumcision and stick with male circumcision alone.

But it seemed all the circumcisers, under the aegis of Circumcision Descendants Association of Nigeria (CDAN), were not in total agreement as to the stoppage. Even though they admitted that the practice had no significant benefit to the child, they stated that the practice has formed part of their business and source of livelihood, explaining that it is a trade passed down to them.

One of the practitioners wondered what alternative venture the government and campaigners had for them because they cannot afford to limit business to male circumcision alone.

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, represented by Dr. Femi Majekodunmi, assured them that they would never be let down for taking a decision to protect and empower the girl child.

The wife of Oyo State Governor, Mrs. Florence Ajimobi, had at the meeting on FGM with governors’ wives from South West in Ibadan,  lamented that the state ranked third in Nigeria, coming behind Osun and Ekiti, but ahead of Ebonyi, Imo and Lagos staes in that order:

“To generate an accelerated state and community response  and in furtherance  of one of the specific targets of goal five of the sustainable development goals, which is to end female genital mutilation by the year 2030, my office, in collaboration with the Access to Basic (medical) Care Foundation, Action Health Incorporated and the United States Population Fund, relevant state ministries and parastatals as well as other stakeholders including traditional rulers, has  taken it upon itself to own this fight  against female genital mutilation in Oyo State.”

Heartbreaking! Man Dies While Fighting in a Bar After He Couldn't Pay for His Drinks

Photo only used for illustrative purpose

A quarrel in a bar in Mai Mahiu Naivasha area of Kenya ended on a tragic note after a reveler died during a fight with bar attendants over a bill. It was reported that after the tragic incident, the three female attendants involved in the matter fled the town to escape arrest.

It was gathered that trouble started after the middle-aged man ventured into one of the bars in the trading center and started ordering drinks with the promise that he would pay.

A witness Patrick Kihara said that the reveler was well known in the bar adding that he entered the bar with his friends.

“He ordered drinks for his colleagues but when he was asked to pay he refused and a fight ensued between him and the bar attendants,” he said.

Kihara added during the fight one of the barmaids was seriously injured and sought the help of the others who overpowered the reveler and arrested him.

Security officers however noted that the man was bleeding from the head and decided to take him to a nearby health center where he was admitted.

“He was in hospital for over four hours but died hours later and the bar attendants got a whiff of this and fled from the town,” said Kihara.

A senior police officer confirmed this adding that they were seeking the trio to record a statement over the incident.

APC Has Merged With INEC, Police – Fayose Raises Alarm

Governor Ayodele Fayose

Ekiti State Governor and Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors Forum, Mr Ayodele Fayose has slammed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies, especially the police on their roles in subverting the rights of Nigerians to choose their leaders in free, fair and credible elections.

He said; “While we continue to watch with keen interest, revelations coming from the Edo State Governorship Election Tribunal, the open display of partisanship in the Rivers State rerun elections has made it so obvious that INEC and police have become so shameless in their open display of support for the All Progressives Congress (APC).”

Governor Fayose’s Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, quoted the governor as saying in a release issued in Ado Ekiti on Thursday that it was worrisome that INEC and the Police are no longer hiding their alliance with the APC against Nigerians.

He said; “We have seen the police and INEC going back and forth on Rivers State rerun elections and I wish to ask the police; what happened to that suspect, Christian Chukwuemela Ekikeme, who reportedly confessed to the complicity of some APC top-shots in the murder of DSP Mohammed Alkali?

“Shouldn’t the police be more interested in bringing those who allegedly killed its officers to justice?

“Also, what has happened to that Yobe State INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) established to have received N15 million bribe to rig the Yobe State election?”

The governor warned that any attempt to rig the 2018 governorship election in Ekiti State will be resisted by the people, saying; “Here in Ekiti, we are waiting for them. If INEC and its ally, APC like, they can print as many Form EC8A as it can, they will fail.”

He said; “It is sad that snatching of ballot boxes, hijacking of voting materials, electoral violence and most importantly, falsification of election results, which had become a thing of the past have returned to our electoral process. INEC and security agencies, especially the police have merged with the APC and the way they are going, results of elections will one day be announced in Abuja in favour of APC without casting a single ballot.”

Governor Fayose, who called on the international community, especially election observers to pay more attention to the conduct of elections in Nigeria under the APC government, said; “Democracy is in danger in Nigeria! God forbid, if Nigeria is allowed to sink beyond the level that it is now, the entire continent of Africa will not be able to control the consequences.”

Students protesting Xenophobic attacks in South Africa (File photo)

The National Association of Nigerian Students on Thursday staged a protest at the South African High Commission in Abuja where they also burned the country’s national flag, reports Punch.

The students moved from the popular Unity Fountain to MTN office in Maitama and the Multi-Choice office located at the Central Business District to protest against the renewed xenophobic attacks on Nigerians in South Africa as they were led by their president, Aruna Kadiri.

The protesting students also issued a 48-hour ultimatum to the South African nationals to leave Nigeria.

They also urged the High Commission officials to cancel the dinner organised in honour of Regina Tambo, the co-founder of African National Congress Youth League.

Osinbajo Urged to Free Nnamdi Kanu and El Zakzaky in Buhari's Absence

As President Muhammdu Buhari recuperates from an unknown illness abroad, a socio-cultural group from the South-east has urged the acting President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo to free some detained public personalities.

Professor Yemi Osinbajo

The Ohanaeze Ndigbo youth wing has called on the Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo to release all political detainees and freedom fighters held behind bars for expressing their ideological beliefs.

The group made the call in a press statement issued in Abuja by its President-General, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, on Thursday.

Isiguzoro said it was morally wrong and adversarial for the federal government to remain adamant to calls made by well-meaning Nigerians and groups seeking the release of the detainees, especially for health reasons.

The youth leader further said that the federal government was indirectly brewing a Nigerian version of the ‘Arab spring’ by its refusal to listen to the people and to change the alleged cabal that is holding the country hostage.

He said: “We are calling on the Acting-President, Yemi Osinbajo, to release all the political detainees and freedom fighters such as El-Zakzaky, Nnamdi Kanu and others; who are languishing in prison custody because of their quest for self-determination.

“We call on the federal government to look seriously into this matter before it gets out of hand.

“The country needs to be restructured. The government needs to listen to the citizenry, and the cabal that has been holding this government ransom must change.

“We are going to tumble down this country, if the government fails to listen to us. We will call out the organized labour, the student bodies, and all the nationality youth organizations of this country to come out en-masse for another ‘Arab Spring’ in Nigeria.

“As a partners and stakeholders in the Nigerian project, we are saying that the government should do its work and by so doing must also listen to the people to know where they are getting it wrong for them to correct their policies that are very adversary to the people.”

We Give MTN, DSTV and Others 2 Days to Leave Nigeria or Face Trouble – Nigerian Students Issue Ultimatum Over Xenophobic Attacks

MTN board (File photo)

The National Association of Nigerian Students has given all South African companies in Nigeria 48 hours to relocate over the xenophobic attacks on Nigerians in South Africa.

The students gave the ultimatum at a demonstration at some South African companies in Abuja on Thursday.

During the protest the students carried placards and a banner, which read, “NANS Against Xenophobic Attacks on Nigerians.’’

The President of NANS, Mr. Kadiri Aruna, said in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria at the office of DSTV, a South African company, in Wuse 2, Abuja, that Nigerian students had resolved to condemn the attacks.

“We are saying that enough is enough as South Africans have openly attacked and bullied Nigerians.’’

Aruna said that the protest would also serve as a warning to other countries trying to underrate Nigerians.

He said that after 48 hours, if nothing was done, messages would be sent to students in all university campuses to bring down MTN masts all over the country.

Aruna said that DSTV and Shoprite would also be affected as the union had put adequate strategies in place to make the action effective.

“All the South African business empires in Nigeria and their collaborators in Nigeria will be affected,” he said.

“I don’t want to say we will be barbaric but we will not be lawful in our actions, we will do it and face the consequences, enough of this rubbish.”

Aruna stressed that the poor treatment being meted out to Nigerians was particularly insulting given the role Nigeria played in ending the apartheid regime in South Africa.

“Nigeria contributed 80 per cent of the freedom the South Africans are enjoying today because we saved them from the jaws of apartheid.

“Who is South Africa to humiliate Nigeria? So they forget things so soon, let them go back to history and records to see how much financial assistance and what the country did to save them,’’ he said.

The union president said that the situation was inhuman and for this reason all reasonable Nigerians must react.

“In science they say you use malaria to cure malaria, now you use madness to cure their madness, and that is why we are advising them to leave Nigerian soil before 48 hours.’’

The NANS president called on the Federal Government not to wait until the dying minutes before evacuating Nigerians from South Africa.

“Government should take extra-diplomatic measures in dealing with the latest deadly assaults because if nothing drastic is done it will become a regular occurrence,” he said.

He said the current attacks occurred because the last time xenophobic attacks happened nothing was done, no action was taken and no arrest was made.

According to Daily Sun SA, after he was discharged from hospital on Monday following the near-death encounter, Senzekahle said he has forgiven his father.

Senzekahle (23), the younger brother of former Hawks spokesman McIntosh Polela, who wrote “My Father, My Monster”, was allegedly shot in the cheek by his father (65) on Sunday after an argument over a family tractor.

“All I want is to see my father admitting that he has a temper disorder. He needs to be psychologically examined and treated,” he said.

Senzekahle, from Ladysmith in the KZN Midlands, South Africa, said his ordeal started when his family received a call from a neighbour who complained about the tractor abandoned in his yard.

“We knew my father had left it there so we went to take the tractor back home. Lately he has a habit of taking family properties and abandon them everywhere. We do not know what his intention is,”

He said while trying to remove the tractor, his father appeared.

“We argued and then he pulled out a gun and shot me. Luckily the bullet missed my brain. My older brother overpowered and disarmed him. He nearly killed me,” Senzekahle claimed.

Captain Nqobile Gwala, KZN police spokeswoman, confirmed that a man was still in hospital under police guard.

“The residents beat him up. He will appear in court as soon as he is discharged.

A report by the Hindustan Times has shown how an Indian woman walked in on her son, Nazim Miyan, eating a seven-year-old boy whom he had dragged in off the street and beheaded.

Nazim Miyan, who is in his mid-20s, is accused of luring the young victim Mohammad Monis indoors while he was playing outside with his friends

Miyan then killed the boy and cut his limbs and neck into several pieces, before ripping his stomach out and tearing off his flesh.

Police officers who later attended the disturbing scene said they found ‘the body… lying on the floor with the decapitated head beside it’.

Miyan was found sitting near the body, he added, and gave himself up to police without any resistance.

But after his arrest, hundreds of people gathered outside the police station in Amariya, in the north Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.

As they tried to attack Miyan, they demanded that he be killed for his alleged crime.

When Miyan was later questioned by investigators, his responses were apparently unintelligible.

He has now been charged with murder and abduction.

Oh No! Stunning London TV Worker Sacked for Allegedly Being Too Pretty (Photos)

The sacked TV worker, Emma Hulse

A London TV worker claims she was dismissed from her job at a Soho production company for being “too good looking”.

Emma Hulse says she was sent home from her freelancing shift at the central London TV company by a manager who told her: “You should be on a catwalk”.

The 24-year-old, who lives in Mayfair, said she was only five minutes into her eight-hour shift when her boss told her to leave.

Company UNIT TV, based on Great Marlborough Street, accepted the incident happened and have since dismissed the employee who was allegedly involved, who had only been working there for three months.

Ms Hulse told the Standard: “We were supposed to finish at 6pm and I got there for 9.30am and when I got there this other runner started explaining to me what I should do.

“Then they send me on a run. Then my agent text me that I’m no longer required.

“I got there and spoke to the line manager and he asked me, ‘are you a model? Are you not doing catwalks, why are you not at the front of house?’

“I was wearing a lipstick but from my perspective I was not inappropriate. I was wearing a shirt and trousers. I really didn’t think I looked inappropriate.

“Then he took my number, he suggested we go for a drink.”

She added: “I was quite disappointed to be sent home. I didn’t really know what to do.

“Maybe that company employs plain looking people and maybe if you don’t look that way they don’t take you, maybe I was a distraction.

“I do camera operating as well, I work for many different companies and no one has sent me home because of the way I look. Especially within a creative agency you should be free to wear what you want.”

Adam Luckwell, owner of the company, told the Standard the employee who was allegedly involved was dismissed at the end of a three month probation period.

“We found there were a number of things we were not happy with,” Mr Luckwell said. “We decided not to continue with the employment and terminated the contract within three months. We felt he was a bad fit for us and some of the things he was doing was not in line with the company’s policy”.

Wedding Night Brouhaha: Lady Narrates Sexual Experience with Hubby on Their Wedding Night

File photo

I met my husband when I was a postgraduate student in the UK. He was a PhD student and I was a Master’s student. A friend of mine introduced him to me. He told me ” you are going to like him. He’s Yoruba like you”. My friend is Igbo. He’s a cool guy too.

When I met my husband, he was already in his final year of PhD and I was just starting my Master’s. After the brief introduction that day, he agreed to show me around the campus and the city. That’s all. Just friendship. But I was attracted to him. He’s really a smart guy.

After that day, he took me round the campus and around the city as he promised. I fought hard not to tell him my feelings and I get jealous each time I see him with the oyinbo girls. But what can a girl do now? I can’t be fighting because of a man that has not toasted me.

Fortunately, we graduated together and our families both came from Nigeria for the graduation. He introduced me to his mom and the next thing the iya eko said was, “Omo eleyi beautiful, better marry her. There are no good girls out there.”

We looked into each other’s eyes and we burst into laughter. He explained to his mom that we are just friends.

Back to Nigeria, I was now working for a financial institution and he was now working for a private firm in the oil and gas sector. He was getting paid really big. He talked every day and he still didn’t say anything. Finally, one day, we had a lunch together and towards the end, he asked if I was going to be his girlfriend.

Inside, I was so happy but I did small shakara. Besides, that shakara, I raked for him letting him know that I waited for him to say it for too long. After all, I gave him all the signs. I asked him why it took him so long. He apologized saying that he just wanted to have a source of income first. Before, we finished the lunch, I told him yes.

Two days later, I have started going to his house to get sweet kiss and give hot BJ. Call me a slut. Lol! I won’t let anybody take my man. I was sexually active but due to my past heartbreaks, I promised myself that no cookies until the man puts a ring on it. He agreed to it too and suggested the alternatives.

A year and two months later, we did our introduction and fixed our wedding. The date we chose was three months after the introduction.

On our wedding date, I danced my heart out. I did not only marry my best friend, I married my prince charming – the man I have always wanted. My husband is a boobs man and he won’t stop staring at my boobs. I’m very busty. I wear a 36DD. I could see the joy in his eyes when he finally kissed his bride.

After all the ceremony ended, he carried me into his car. His friend drove us to the hotel we booked for the night. He stayed with his friend at the reception and they talked for almost one hour. That friend of his was the one that introduced me to him back in school and he was also his best man at the wedding. So, I know they have a lot to talk about but me my body just wanted action. Except for few foreplays, I haven’t had penile penetration in two years. When my husband came in, he was stressed. I was wearing a very sexy lingerie. I drew him by his tie and whispered into his ear.

“Punish this bunny, boss.”

I don’t know where the energy came from the man just threw me on the bed. And went on to eat my p**sy good. He tongue f**ked me like a maniac. I got so wet and dripped in his mouth but he continued. He played with my clit like a kid who just had toys for the first time. Then, he went on to kissing. We kissed for up to 20 minutes and he fondled my breast all through. Then, he brought out my boobs and caressed my nips with the ice we bought earlier in the evening. I can’t remember how long he spent sucking my big boobs but I know he was there forever.

He brought out his rock hard d**k and stick it up all my mouth almost down my throat. He has never done that before. Followed by series of spanking and ass squeezing. My ass is relatively big.

Finally, he pushed this thing that the wet tight p**sy and started thrusting like crazy. He f**ked me so good. I squirted in less than 5 minutes. My eyes rolling. My legs shaking. Immediately, I calmed down, he bent me over and gave it to me doggy style. we both exploded quickly. And then he turned me in missionary position holding my legs against my shoulder and thrusting even harder than before. Every thrust was a memory kept. I moaned on top of my voice. He went on and on until we both exploded again. We slept off after that.

The next morning, my whole body ached. We even woke up late. There were several missed calls on our phone. we got to the church service late. It was a special thanksgiving service for us. I was even sleepy all through the service. His best man gave him a wink when he caught me sleeping in the church and the three of us started laughing.

My MIL came to meet us after the service and told my husband, ‘I can see your wife sleeping all through the service. She ended her praise with great job my son’. We all started laughing. I got a little shy.

I slept for the rest of the day and we flew to Dubai for our honeymoon to continue our hot romance.

Four years later, our romance is still very hot and bae still has a lot of energy to beat that p**sy up like Bash Ali. We are blessed with beautiful identical twin girls.

Solar Eclipse to Occur in Nigeria in February… Find Out What Day

Revealed: Do You Know Why Men Wear Underpants? Check Out the Weird Reasons

File photo

Well, sometimes you wonder why men wear underpants, considering that they wear trousers and are expected to be satisfied with that coverage.

Some men wear undies because they don’t know any better or any different, while it also depends on personal preferences.

An online platform, Quora, sampled men’s opinion about wearing underpants. Some respondents are of the view that most underwear for men will tend to bunch up their “stuff” or wad things up in a “pouch” or sock or smother it in excessive cloth. None of these is truly healthy for man parts, respondents say.

A respondent who had a beef with wearing underpants says, “Take the scrotum. It’s really a totally underestimated, under-appreciated bodily organ. Look at it hanging there outside and away from your body. Especially look at it when you’ve just stepped out of a hot shower …notice how it hangs well away from your body? There’s a reason for that.

“Your testicles live inside your scrotum. They’re responsible for making sperm. The testicles really do their best making sperm when they’re at slightly less than body temperature and the sperm totally love being a little cooler than body temperature too, as it keeps them healthy.

“Same thing as when you jump into a pool of cool water, the scrotum shrinks up, pulling those wonderful marbles up close to your body to warm them up a bit. So, not wearing undies allows your scrotum to do its job.”

As for men who can’t afford to go commando, what’s the need for wearing underpants? In fact, is there a need really?

Here’s what men say…

• Underpants prevent my manhood from rubbing on my trousers’ rough texture and zippers.

• Underpants rein in (literally!) my manhood and prevent it from being embarrassingly visible.

• It prevents the balls from falling out of proportion by arranging them safely under the penis.

• Wearing underpants enable me to tuck the penis in a restful manner atop the balls.

• It prevents the manhood from getting caught in the zippers when you’re zipping up or down.

• Well, no one wants to see a swinging manhood. Or, do you?

• Well, be aware that the penis has a mind of its own! So, in case of accidental discharge when you come across irresistible sight, the mess can be kept under wrap.

• I don’t want the case of a peeping Tom!

• My balls need all the support they can get!

Ali Modu-Sheriff Not PDP's Worst Demon

PDP National Chairman, Ali Modu-Sheriff

The Peoples Democratic Party is dying of numerous self-inflicted wounds and may not recover for as long as it thinks that Ali Modu Sheriff is its deadliest poison.

From the headlines, you would think that Modu Sheriff is the beginning and the end of the problems of the PDP; that once you feed him to the sharks, all would be well with the party again.

That’s fine. Modu Sheriff, who has tried unsuccessfully to distance himself from Boko Haram, is probably one of Nigeria’s most dangerous politicians. He is rich, well connected and ruthlessly strategic – all of which, ironically, are regarded as asset in politics.

If there was a shred of honesty left in PDP, however, the party would admit that there’s nothing about Modu Sheriff that should come to it as a surprise.

This was the same Modu Sheriff that a godfather of the PDP, former President Goodluck Jonathan, engaged when he thought Nigeria needed help from Idriss Derby of Chad to contain Boko Haram.

At the time, Paul Biya of Cameroun was fed up with Abuja’s shenanigans and ruled out any direct contact with Jonathan on Boko Haram.

With our tails between our legs, we turned to Derby for help. Only Jonathan can explain why he thought that his entourage to Ndjamena would be incomplete without his talisman, Modu Sheriff.

If that was a mistake, Modu Sheriff’s influence did not wane after Jonathan’s defeat and PDP’s catastrophic loss at the 2015 polls.

Instead, after the fall of its two chairmen Adamu Mu’azu and Uche Secondus, the PDP machine, comprising the national caucus, governors, members of the national working committee and the party’s leaders in the National Assembly, all lined up behind Modu Sheriff. Femi Fani-Kayode was the notable exception.

Modu Sheriff is a symptom of the problem with the PDP but the party’s demons go much deeper and way back.

Some might say it started with the injustice sown at the party’s first national convention in Jos in 1998, when Alex Ekwueme was brazenly cheated out of the party’s presidential ticket in favour of Olusegun Obasanjo, a latecomer and an outsider.

Others might argue that in the context of the post-June 12 national crisis, the cheating was regrettable but expedient.

Neither side can deny that the consequence of that brazen act has haunted the PDP in all its conventions afterwards. Once it got the foundation wrong, it’s not been able to get it right since.

That first wrong move has not only remained a template, it has produced a litany of bad habits infecting the party’s vital organs. In Jos, PDP transferred the letter and spirit of the party’s constitution to the custody of its godfathers, who thereafter began to do as they pleased, once the price was right.

The height of it was the infamous case of Ndudi Elumelu who actually admitted paying N750 million to the party’s godfathers in Delta State to secure the party’s governorship nomination. The godfathers swindled him of the money (actually part of an unsecured loan of N2 billion from a major bank) and he cried out publicly for help until the scandal was squashed.

Once elected, you monetised power for yourself and for the godfather. Citizens who had no hand in it in the first place, could go to hell.

This practice was not exclusive to the PDP. But the party behaved in a way that left no one in doubt that it was the official headquarters of corruption. Regardless of its odious reputation, it boasted that it would rule Nigeria for at least 60 years.

Well, the party continued for 16 years; and except for those who had their beaks in the trough, most could see after Obasanjo’s first term that PDP was largely on steroids.

The Obasanjo-Atiku warfare, intra-PDP resistance to the fight against corruption, Obasanjo’s third term agenda, the emergence of Umaru Yar’Adua as president and his untimely death, exposed the deep weaknesses within the PDP – weaknesses that were beyond Jonathan.

It was only a matter of time before the party would collapse under the weight of its own hubris.

This, of course, is not the convenient version. Party leaders like Jerry Gana who should know better insist on the single narrative that the problem with the PDP is 2019: Modu Sheriff is the spoiler paid by the All Progressives Congress to damage the opposition.

It’s not untrue. Inside sources told me of three key persons – one a former governor (South-South), one serving (North-West), and an arrowhead in the North-East – who would stop at nothing to finish off the opposition.

In light of Modu Sheriff’s shameful role in the governorship election in Ondo, Gana appears to be on point.

But Modu Sheriff is not new to the sale of party flag. That was how a major rump of the ANPP ended up in PDP’s belly under Obasanjo. So, why is Gana complaining?

Four fingers pointing back at Gana also insinuate that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar is preparing the Makarfi faction – which Gana supports – as a shell under which the former Vice President could contest the presidency in 2019.

Apart from Gana, others have their own schemes. Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, for example, knows that a hostile takeover of the party would complicate his exit and succession, given what happened last year in Ondo.

And this is precisely where the PDP’s problem lies: the party is so obsessed with returning to power that it is prepared to tip over a cliff, blindfolded, to grab it.

PDP was voted out because it had lost touch with its base. It had become a party of impunity, a trading post where the only currency was power for its own sake.

It was neither obeying its own rules nor did it care about the integrity of public institutions under its care. The party was rotten to the core.

After 13 years between Obasanjo and Jonathan, the party is shrinking. It has downgraded from a national party to a South-South/South-East party, and from that to a South-South party, with Governors Nyesom Wike and Fayose as its new face.

The maggots are within.

It will take more than a court ruling for or against Modu Sheriff to fix the PDP. If the party does not return to its roots, to deal with the problems of where the rain started beating it, it will one day discover that Modu Sheriff is its own Donald Trump.

Just like it happened to the dinosaurs of the Republican Party, Modu Sheriff will chase them out of their own party, one by one, leaving them out in the cold and the party in complete ruins.

Care About Your Money? Here Are Five Most Common ATM Scams and How to Avoid Falling Victim

A customer at the atm booth (File booth)

Do you know your ATM card is one of the quickest ways a thief can commit identity theft – and wipe out your bank account!  According to allclearid, here are some of the most common types of ATM scams you must avoid falling victim to.

1. Skimmer – This scam involves a device that is installed into an ATM that can read your account information including your account number, PIN and balance. Usually these skimmers can hold up to 200 accounts worth of information at a time.

2. Shoulder Surfing – This low-tech scam involves observation techniques or some crafty tactics. Some thieves install a fake keypad on top of a real one to record account information and pin numbers. To capture more useable data to access someone’s account, they will also install a camera to record all other information – like your card number.

3. Cash Trapping – A crook installs something to block the cash from dispensing out of an ATM machine. A customer will then go inside the bank for help and will return to find the cash stolen by a thief.

4. “Lebanese Loop”– This type of financial identity theft is one of the simplest and becoming increasingly common. An identity thief installs a metal or plastic strip into the ATM card slot. The card goes in normally and the transaction to withdraw money moves along as it should. However, once it is complete and the card tries to eject, the loop prevents it from ejecting and the cash is not dispensed. As in the cash trapping scam, the customer walks into the bank to complain, while the thief removes the loop and has access to your bank account and cash.

5. Phishing – An oldie but goodie that has had a resurgence this year with millions of lost email addresses.  Phishing for your bank information occurs when a scammer sends an e-mail to a customer pretending to be a bank representative requesting you to update account information. The thief then uses this information to replicate an ATM card or withdraw money from a customer account via online banking.

What you can do: The best way to prevent ATM fraud is to monitor your bank accounts and only use ATMs that have security cameras. It is also important that you never leave your card in an ATM, even if it is only to inform the bank of a problem. Instead, you should call the bank and tell them you are at the ATM and there is a problem with your card. This will keep your account safe and identity protected until help comes to you.

Four Nigerian Soldiers Torture and Leave Mechanic in Critical Condition for Allegedly Damaging Customer's Vehicle in Umuahia (Photo)

Maduabuchi Onymaeze was tortured and left in critical condition

A mechanic was left almost dead after he was tortured by four soldiers along Ikot-Ekpene Road, Umuahia, Abia State, for allegedly damaging a vehicle put in his custody for sale. The mechanic identified as Maduabuchi Onyemaeze, 32, was left in critical condition and was later rushed to a medical facility in the area.

According to Punch, Onyemaeze speaking shortly after he was discharged from the hospital, alleged that the military men were sent by a customer, identified simply as Jephat.

He explained that Jephat, who deals in electrical products, had contracted him to sell vehicle, a Murano Jeep, sometime in December 2016.

He said, “The car had been abandoned in a mechanic workshop for more than one year. He begged me to help him sell it. I discovered that the car’s engine was faulty and the steering was also bad.  He said I should sell it for N1m and I could remove the cost of repairs after selling it.

“While driving the car to my workshop, I discovered that the alternator was bad. I told him I would replace only the alternator because I didn’t have enough money and he agreed.

“I bought the alternator for N13,000 and when people started coming for the car, I went to his shop to ask for the vehicle documents. He said he had misplaced them and I should give him some time. After going several times, I became tired and gave up.”

Explaining further, the father of one said sometime last week, Jephat suddenly showed up at his workshop to inspect the car and discovered a scratch. After the incident, Jephat later sent him a message, demanding that the car be returned.

He said, “I removed the alternator that I bought and took the Jeep back last Saturday. He was not around, but I dropped the car key with one of his female workers.

“I was in my shop on Monday when I saw four soldiers. They put me inside their car and took me to the back of the man’s shop. They tortured me until there was no strength in me.

“After they were done, the man gave me the car key and said I should take the car back to my workshop, fix it and return it by Friday. I was able to call some of my friends who took me to the police station from where I was taken to a hospital.”

The police it was gathered, arrested Jephat, but released him on bail on self recognition. When he was confronted with the allegation, Jephat mechanic was not tortured, but “flogged.”

He added that a military officer, who had indicated interest in the Jeep, sent the four soldiers to Onyemaeze’s workshop. He said, “From the first day that I bought the Jeep, it had developed a fault and I spent a lot of money on it without any result. So, I decided to park it in my garage as a monument.

“He (Onyemaeze) saw the vehicle and said he could sell it after fixing the fault. We agreed that after selling it, he would take his repairs’ fee and commission from the money. That was sometime in November 2016.

“Two people I had told about the vehicle and directed to his workshop came back and said they didn’t see the vehicle. I assumed that they didn’t get the location right.

“When another prospective buyer made a similar observation, I decided to check his shop myself. I discovered that he had gone out with the Jeep. When he brought it back, I observed that it had been damaged.”

He said a few weeks afterwards, a friend told him that someone had been having sex in the vehicle. He said he was angry and went back to the mechanic workshop.

“When I got there, I saw that the four doors were open. Loud music was blaring everywhere. One of his apprentices was sleeping at the back. I queried him for sleeping in the car. He told me that his boss asked him to wash the Jeep for a function the following day.

“While waiting for him at the workshop, I decided to open the Jeep’s glove compartment and saw a heap of CDs and two unused condoms,” he added.

He added that when he asked Onyemaeze about some scratches on the Jeep, the mechanic said they were done by some children in the place where he parked the car.

He said he sent a message to Onyemaeze, telling him that he had been using the Jeep for his selfish end against their agreement.

The businessman added that the mechanic threatened that if he didn’t pick the car in two days, he would damage it further.

He said, “Coincidentally, a commander, who had indicated interest in buying the car called me and asked about the car. I told him all that transpired and he was angry that the vehicle was being used in such a manner.

“After some time, I saw some soldiers in my workshop; they brought the mechanic. They accused him of having sex with women in the vehicle and maligning me. They asked him to kneel down and raise his hands.

“They used a fallen mango branch to flog him. After a while, they drove off. To my surprise, he called a pastor and they started a drama. He rolled on the floor while the pastor took his pictures.

“Two policemen later came to arrest me and I followed them to the station. Because of my health condition, I was released on bail on self recognition.”

The police is still investigating the matter.

Why Northern Nigeria Remains the Poorest Region – Senator Shehu Sani Speaks Out

Senator Shehu Sani

Outspoken All Progressive Congress (APC) Senator, Shehu Sani, who represents Kaduna Central Senatorial District at the National Assembly in Abuja,  has blamed wealthy politicians for the current poverty in northern part of Nigeria.

The Senator who disclosed that the North is believed to be the poorest region in the country despite the number of wealthy people from the area, added that the poor “toiled and worked for us, and laboured hard to see us elected into public offices,” yet no gains.

While noting that the poor and physically-challenged people were usually neglected after elections, he said; “It has always been the same pattern; each time we are aspiring for political offices, we search for them in the nook and crannies but at the very time we have won the election, the best thing is how to clear them from our cities.

“You cannot end (street) begging in any part of Nigeria without making provisions for uplifting their socio-economic and living standards. It has always been the case. Public begging and loitering is an economic problem.

“You cannot legislate people out of poverty; you cannot decree people out of poverty; you have to lay an economic roadmap for which these people can stand and fend for themselves.

“Begging has been a major problem in northern Nigeria but it couldn’t in any way be stopped because the economic basis that would address the problem has not been done.

“Many rich northerners, who own oil blocks and are in position of power, are seeing these people as pests in the society that should be cleared off. And they cannot be cleared off.

“We have enough people who are rich in the northern part of Nigeria and who could have ended this problem.

“But what we should understand is that philanthropy alone cannot address the problem of socio-economic inequality; we need to have an entrenched social system and social justice in which people of this social status can have their standard uplifted.”

Shocking Story: How a 4-year-old Girl's Leg was Cut-off Due to Costly Mistake by Kaduna Hospital (Photos)

The victim whose leg was amputated

A Facebook user, Fejiro Oliver, who is the publisher/editor-in-chief at Secret Reporters News, has taken to the social media platform to narrate a sad story of a 4-year-old girl whose leg was amputated as a result of wrong media disgnosis.

Below is how he reported the story on social media;

***************************

Rukayya, a 4 year old girl from Zaria fell sick and was taken to a Hospital in Zaria. (I am withholding the name of the hospital for some reasons).

After running some preliminary laboratory tests, Rukayya’s parents were told their daughter was a sickler, that she has malaria. They treated her,and they left for home.

When Rukayya’s condition didn’t improve, her parents took her back to the hospital &was admitted immediately. She was transfused with blood through a vein in her leg, because according to them, they could not find any in her hands.

After the transfusion, she was discharged to go home. Later on, the leg became swollen and Rukkaya had to be taken back to the hospital. Rukkaya’s parents were told to take her back home ,elevate her legs and administer ice therapy.

When that didn’t work, Rukayya was taken back to the hospital again where the parents met the hostility of the staff on duty. But they were eventually attended to; they examined the affected leg. and when they realized they could not handle the case anymore, they were referred to ABU Teaching Hospital Shika-Zaria.

On getting to A.B.U.T.H, Rukkaya was immediately taken to the emergency room and the doctors after examination told her parents that Rukayya’s leg needs to be amputated immediately due to the infection that is spreading in her leg.

Rukayya eventually lost a leg.

Further tests carried out at Shika revealed Rukayya was not even a sickler, and the peripheral Hospital misdiagnosed her from the start.

GIWAC has filed a petition on behalf of Rukkaya to the Executive Governor of Kaduna State, Commissioner of police, Speaker state house of assembly, the elected members representing her constituency (Basawa constituency) in the state assembly and the chairman of her local government (Sabon gari).

One of Nigeria’s popular Ponzi schemes, Mavrodi Mondial Moneybox (MMM), has again announced to its millions of subscribers and investors that it would freeze some Mavros of its participants and introduce new measures to ‘serve them better.’

In a latest release to its participants on Wednesday, February 22, members of the ponzi scheme saw in their various POs (Personal Offices) a message stating the plan to launch the new rules which will “stop the growth of confirmed Mavros acquired before the 1st of January 2017 and freeze the bonuses received before the 1st of January 2017 so that limited withdrawal of Mavro-2016 will include only contributions, not bonuses.”

The message read thus:

“You constantly reproach us stating we don’t listen to your opinions however we really do. We try to carry out the most reasonable and efficient suggestions immediately.

“Particularly, in accordance with your suggestions, we will soon take the following measures:

– We will stop the growth of confirmed Mavros acquired before the 1st of January 2017.

– We will freeze the bonuses received before the 1st of January 2017 (so that limited withdrawal of Mavro-2016 will include only contributions, not bonuses).

– We will introduce a new rule according to which the withdrawal amount cannot exceed triple amount of the provided help (so, GH cannot exceed PH more than in 3 times).

“Many participants and guiders withdraw bonuses in such big amounts without PH that it threatens the stability of the whole System. (We don’t agree, however we will accept preferences of the majority. With this rule, you can’t withdraw only bonuses without providing help.
