Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has upheld the
party's governorship primary election held in Lagos state which saw Babajide
Sanwo-Olu defeat incumbent governor, Akinwunmi Ambode. Confusion had trailed
Tuesday, October 2 primary election held in the 245 wards spread across the 20
local governments of the state, after it was cancelled by the Clement Ebri-led

was unaware of the primary conducted by the State Working Committee (SWC) because
it did not follow the committee’s guidelines. He, therefore, cancelled it and
ordered a fresh exercise for Wednesday, October 3. However, the Adams
Oshiomhole, the party’s national chairman, overruled the Ebri committee and
ordered it to collate the results of the poll and declare it immediately. The
APC national chairman told This Day that the NWC tasked the Ebri committee the
with merely supervising the poll, adding that a panel of about seven persons
cannot manage an election held in 245 wards of 20 local government areas of the
state. “The election has been held, anyone who is aggrieved should complain
after the declaration of results," Oshiomhole said. The national chairman
insisted that the will of the people must be respected and directed Ebri to collate

that Ebri panel used its name to annul the primary when in fact it was in a
meeting when the primary was going on. A source said most members were of the
view that the Lagos primary election had held and its results must be declared.
Sources said the Ebri committee would adopt the results announced last night by
the state chairman of the party, Babatunde Balogun. NAIJ.com had earlier
reported that APC in Lagos state has declared Jide Sanwo-Olu as winner of the
primary election and governorship candidate of the party for 2019. Tunde
Balogun who is the chairman of the party in Lagos announced the result on
Tuesday, October 2 at the party secretariat. According to him, Sanwo-Olu polled
970,851 votes to defeat Governor Akinwunmi Ambode who reportedly had 72,901
