Man United purportedly set to sign Antonio
Conte and ex-Juve's sporting director
The end of Jose Mourinho's era in Manchester
United is closer than expected with the instability of the club intensifying
ahead of their Champions League clash with Valencia. United are currently tenth
on the table, with nine points off league leaders Manchester City and
Liverpool, a bad result against Valencia could spell doom for the Portuguese
manager. Former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has been tipped as a
formidable replacement and surprisingly ex-Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is also
available for the job.
The Red Devils are also looking to hire former
Juventus' CEO Beppe Marotta, with the Italian seen as the key to the resurgence
of the Old Lady over the last eight years. Marotta is said to be responsible
for bringing in world class talents to Turin below their supposed market value.
Juve's sporting director Fabio Paratici has also been linked to get a job at
Old Trafford, though he is now expected to be promoted in Turin after Marotta's
departure.
According to Corriere dello Sport, Marotta is
reported to have a good relationship with Conte during the Italian manager's
time at Turin and the pair could reunite at Old Trafford.
